    Hyperpop

Part of Pop and Rock Fusion

Hyperpop is a genre that emerged in the 2010s, characterized by its maximalist approach to pop music, blending hyperactive, high-energy beats with experimental, exaggerated production. It often features distorted vocals, rapid tempo changes, and an eclectic mix of influences from pop, electronic, and avant-garde music. Hyperpop is known for pushing the boundaries of pop music, using glitchy, pitch-shifted vocals, high-pitched synths, and surreal soundscapes, creating a sound that is intentionally exaggerated and sometimes chaotic. The genre embraces a sense of fun, freedom, and futurism, often incorporating themes of internet culture, digital identity, and subverting traditional pop structures. Key artists in hyperpop include 100 gecs, SOPHIE, and A.G. Cook.
