Electronic Rock
Part of Pop and Rock Fusion
Electronic Rock is a broad fusion genre that combines the amplified instrumentation and song structures of rock music with the production techniques of electronic music. Rather than simply adding synthesizers to a rock band, it fundamentally integrates digital tools into the composition process. This often involves processing electric guitars through computer effects, utilizing hybrid drumming (blending live acoustic kits with programmed breakbeats or samples), and using synthesizers to drive the melody or bass. Spanning from the experimental sounds of the late 60s to modern alternative rock, the genre seeks to expand the traditional sonic palette of the rock band, creating a sound that possesses the visceral aggression of rock but the textural depth and precision of electronica.
