Progressive House
Part of House
Progressive House is a style that emerged in the United Kingdom in the early 1990s as a reaction to the speed of breakbeat and the simplicity of early house. It is characterized by long, evolving tracks that build tension gradually (progressively) rather than relying on instant hooks. The genre focuses on melody and emotion, often incorporating atmospheric textures from trance and the rhythmic groove of house. It defined the 'Super DJ' era of the late 90s and 2000s, bridging the gap between deep house and trance.
