    Microsound

    Part of Sound Manipulation

Microsound is an experimental subgenre that zooms in on the smallest elements of audio—microscopic grains, particles, or 'micro-sounds'-to create intricate, ambient soundscapes. It often uses techniques like granular synthesis, where sounds are broken down into tiny fragments and reassembled to form subtle, evolving textures. Microsound compositions tend to be minimal, focusing on the delicate details within each sound, such as digital clicks, soft glitches, or ambient tones, to create a meditative and immersive experience. The genre explores the intersection between digital sound processing and minimalist composition, creating a highly detailed sonic world that rewards close listening.
