    Wave

    Part of Bass Music

Wave is a genre that emerged in the mid-2010s from the underground internet scene, blending elements of trap, grime, and emo. Known for its emotional melodies and heavy bass, it reflects the emotional depth and personal struggles of its creators. Wave’s connection to internet subcultures, particularly on platforms like SoundCloud and Bandcamp, helped the genre gain traction among young, digitally native listeners. The genre speaks to themes of isolation, loss, and longing, and has become a vehicle for introspective and vulnerable expression. Its sound is often dark and atmospheric, capturing the tension between melancholy and empowerment, resonating with a generation confronting emotional and societal challenges in a hyper-connected, often isolating digital world.
