Electropop
Part of Synth-pop
Electropop is a genre of pop music that blends traditional pop melodies and structures with electronic production, often featuring synthesizers, drum machines, and digital effects. Emerging in the late 1990s and early 2000s, electropop is characterized by its polished, catchy hooks, energetic rhythms, and a clean, futuristic sound that emphasizes electronic elements without losing the accessibility of pop music. It often incorporates influences from genres like synthpop, dance music, and new wave, creating a hybrid of traditional pop sensibilities with the innovative textures of electronic music. Vocals in electropop are typically clear and melodic, sometimes treated with electronic effects or pitch manipulation. Artists like Robyn, La Roux, Grimes, and CHVRCHES are well-known for defining and popularizing electropop, merging catchy tunes with electronic experimentation for a sound that's both mainstream and forward-thinking.
