Acid breaks (Breakbeat)
Part of Breakbeat
Acid breaks is a subgenre of electronic dance music that fuses the squelchy, acid-inspired sounds of the Roland TB-303 synthesizer with breakbeat rhythms. Emerging in the 1990s, acid breaks combines the funky, syncopated beats of breakbeat with the hypnotic, looping basslines and trippy effects characteristic of acid house. Tracks often have a gritty, raw energy, featuring complex drum patterns, distorted synths, and psychedelic elements that create an intense, danceable groove. Acid breaks is popular in underground scenes, known for its high-energy feel and the fusion of acid’s otherworldly sounds with breakbeat’s rhythmic complexity.
