    Riddim

    Part of Dubstep

Riddim is a subgenre of dubstep that focuses on repetitive, rhythmic bass patterns and minimalistic, syncopated beats. Emerging in the mid-2010s, riddim is characterized by its slower tempos (usually around 140 BPM) and 'wobbly' basslines that create a hypnotic, groove-driven sound. It often features stripped-back production, with fewer melodic elements, letting the bass and rhythm take center stage. Known for its heavy, deep drops and head-nodding flow, riddim has a darker, more underground vibe than mainstream dubstep, resonating in the bass music scene and frequently played in dubstep and EDM festivals.
