    Kuduro

    Part of Global Club

Originating in Luanda, Angola, in the late 1980s, Kuduro is a high-energy genre that fuses Western house and techno with traditional African percussion and rhythms like semba and soca. Characterized by its fast tempo (around 140 BPM), aggressive 4/4 beats, and raw, minimalist production, it was born in the streets as a form of urban expression. While the original Angolan sound is gritty and percussive, it gained massive international influence through the 'Progressive Kuduro' movement in Lisbon, which blended it with heavy bass and European club aesthetics.
