    Italo disco

    Part of Euro disco

Italo disco is an Italian variant of Euro disco that emerged in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Known for its upbeat, synthesized melodies, catchy hooks, and danceable rhythms, it combines elements of disco with futuristic electronic sounds. Italo disco is characterized by its smooth, often romantic, melodies and the heavy use of synthesizers, drum machines, and basslines that were typical of early electronic dance music. The genre is also marked by its distinctive vocal style, often featuring Italian-language lyrics or heavily accented English. The sound of Italo disco is both nostalgic and forward-thinking, blending the energy of disco with the electronic experimentation of the time. Artists like Ryan Paris and Sandy Marton became iconic within the genre, producing tracks that remain beloved dancefloor anthems.
